These pages were created back in the dark ages of Internet, when online book stores only provided a title and a price, sometimes accompanied with a decidedly overoptimistic publisher testimonial. It was not possible to take a closer look or read a couple of pages, all one could do was order and hope the book will not be too much off the mark ... the reviews here were intended to help in such a situation, providing synopses, series and author information. These days, the reviews stay in an attempt to weather the onslaught of ubiquitous customer opinions :-)

Every review contains a brief information about the book, referring to whatever edition the reviewer has - usually a recent paperback one. A brief synopsis of the book follows - this might be a mild spoiler as far as the plot goes, on the other hand it tells what the book is about. After that - a review with a five degree rating system to express the overall opinion about the book. An average rating is also displayed in the authors index, with the degrees as follows:

Rated very bad. This is something you really do not want to read. A waste of money and time, if you already got the book you might want to sell it to someone unsuspecting.
Rated bad. Not an absolute trash, but not far from it either. If you decide to keep it, it will probably be because of a nice cover more than anything else.
Rated average. Something written with skill, if not with passion. If you are into the genre, you probably will not regret reading the book, although you might not return to it any time soon.
Rated good. The reviewer likes it and hopes that you will too. Safe bet is you will not be disappointed, even if this is your first contact with the particular author or genre.
Rated very good. A treasure. Buy it. Read it. Keep it.
