Fitz, the young assassin to king Shrewd, is slowly recovering from his last ordeal, where he saved prince Verity from a trap set by his younger brother, prince Regal. Returning to the royal palace rather late, Fitz is surprised to find prince Regal still in his place and at his old games. As much as Fitz would want to settle his score with Regal, the quick flow of events takes control of him once again. Spending his time fighting the Red Ship Raiders and the Forged, Fitz has little time to follow what Regal is planning. He is also getting bonded to a wolf, to little liking of his friend Burrich. Things are speeding up as the Red Ship Raiders advance. Prince Verity sets out on a quest to find mythical Elderings, and the kingdom stays in the hands of the treacherous prince Regal. He wastes no time in moving against whomever he perceives as standing in his way to the throne. Of course, this includes princess Kettricken and Fitz ... |

Although not as good as the first volume of the series, the Royal Assassin leaves little to be desired. Without further ado, I rank it as good.
