An unbelievable string of believable incidents that, technically speaking, saves the humankind from extinction. Hooray. Except it also makes you wonder whether it was a such good thing that it did ...

Review

A book very similar to the other two from Kurt Vonnegut I reviewed here so far. A cynical satire that relies on portraying the same things repeatedly in a slowly advancing manner to create a surreal atmosphere that highlights the absurdities of the real world. This approach works great if you find yourself in tune with the jokes, leaving you resonating with the text as you read ...

Unfortunately, it also tires you quickly if you do not find the jokes all that amusing. Which is what I felt while reading, getting the idea of where the things are headed one third through the book and suffering as the jokes got retold with tiny bits of new stuff thrown in until the end of the book. I rate the book average, but maybe you will disagree ... :-)
